@coolbean I've never ever heard it referred to anything but RJ45, thought it was a standard name (like backed by a standard) that had evolved out of telco gear because i know the phone jacks and other related things are RJ11 etc
@autumn i do want the jacks and connectors themselves. i just want the itty bitty ethernet connectors they're funny. more ethernet per ethernet etc. etc.
@coolbean lmao that actually reminds me that my brother took an Ethernet cable out of a hole in the wall into another room and he re-terminated it with the most massive stupidest most robust connector ive Ever seen in my life. and its Impossible to remove out of anything.
@autumn its so annoying i NEED the debranded chinesium copy oh my god i hate harting's branding so much but they made serial crossover cables use a mirrored connector (because of course they would maintain support for the rj45 console port! i love cisco!) so you cant mix up the ports/cables. id still colorcode them though cause that light blue for crossover serial cables is just so cute
@coolbean omg i used them during university, the blue ones, they're adorable yes. we were configuring cisco IOS with them and some windows software i can't remember the name of.
