@ari its amazinggg, i think im gonna buy a fingerprint sensor for my desktop... will probably need to do a bunch of research about which ones work tho :(
@autumn is fingerprint supported at all on linux? i mean, i'm sure it can be made to work through hacks, but i'm talking proper desktop portal support or something
@ari from what i know, you can use it with fprintd to unlock your PC (but still need password for the keychain implementation on KDE or GNOME), you can use it for sudo, and on GNOME at least you're able to use it to just authenticate any admin stuff that the desktop will ask you about. I don't think you can actually do anything within other apps though, not sure about portals though. It allows for you to pass through every USB device, but not fingerprint sensors specifically.
@autumn oh i wasn't thinking of a USB portal, but specifically some kind of "user biometric auth" portal? admittedly i don't know an incredible amount about how desktop portals work
