that being said it would be so sick to have a key on the keyboard that could be a fingerprint sensor. there would be absolutely no way to implement that in QMK.
@coolbean you can get usb fingerprint sensors too, i actually saw one that supported FIDO as well and probably only unlocks on a successful fingerprint login, which is kinda cool
@autumn realistically you could combine both since passkeys can also require confirmation via pin or in this case: fingerprint
id prefer the pin though so i can let someone use my computer without coming over and personally authorising
also i just do not believe in biometrics. those cases of cops unlocking an incapacitated or cuffed person's phone made me very untrusting of their actual security
@autumn yeah in the US entering a pattern pin or password can't be forced because it's considered compelled testimony so I never use biometrics, and any passkey I do use is only part of a password as opposed to the password in and of itself, so that at least if they get the key they can't compel me to offer up the other part
