@indigoviolet @julia making children buy cards and sweeties for their classmates, then forcibly making them give tokens of affection to other classmates, and then making it a whole ritual with a cottage industry, all for a holiday that is primarily a consumerism vehicle

It’s like… Teaching children that affection should JUST be given instead of being something that comes as a natural part of a relationship, let alone the other stuff I mentioned
