after jumping around between banks ive found that my main bank has the least stupid app ui and the least annoying service reqs so ig ill stay with them
@halva im actually thinking about switching banks because the app for it doesn't work on my phone (it says they don't allow rooted phones for security purposes but I'm just running grapheneOS, no root 🫠)
@autumn yeah some banks are really annoying about custom fw, the largest bank here has trouble with custom fw when you want to use their contactless payment impl
ironically enough my main bank is a neobank and they just don't care at all lol
@halva i was thinking about finding a bank with contactless payment implementation because gpay doesn't work on graphene but like, it's probably best if the ability to pay stays away from my phone, like it's just as easy to tap a card
@autumn would any bank in the UK even have an incentive to do this? here in russia they're just using the government provided mir pay framework, and they only do that before gpay isn't a thing here anymore
@halva oh i didnt realise it was like that, but ive heard of instances of banks doing that because gpay wasnt available when they introduced that, maybe they've all switchrd
@autumn afaik mir pay was available for a while here (even before gpay and apay stopped working) and the government just gave banks the tools to integrate it following that
the state-run sberbank (also the one that is bitchy about custom fw) was the first to integrate it, then followed by tinkoff (the one i use lol) and then a whole bunch of other banks
and i frankly dont know of any other country where that's commonplace lol
@halva yeah i see lol, i just remember the first time i switched to a de-googled ROM i missed having gpay and would keep getting caught out by it but atp i always just take my wallet (like i honestly should lmao)
