and no, Joel's Incredible Ad Blocker (android only, will break if the youtube API changes) is not a viable alternative for most people. that is not their fault.

like we all joke about "you should leave twitter and join Glarkle. they ban you for being a piece of shit", but i still see people shilling barely-working apps as some grand solution to systemic capitalism on the daily
don't get me wrong; i'm a tinkerer at heart and will happily spend hours engineering a solution to solve a 2-minute problem, but the thing has to actually be viable
tragic as it is, sometimes handing over the 10-something per month is actually the most viable option. if you want that to change, put your money where your mouth is, and engineer a solution that works.
