it's not fun having someone call you "too blinded by convenience to do the ethical thing" because you pay for youtube premium

if you are the kind of person who does this btw, please reconsider.

and no, Joel's Incredible Ad Blocker (android only, will break if the youtube API changes) is
not a viable alternative for most people. that is not their fault.

like we all joke about "you should leave twitter and join Glarkle. they ban you for being a piece of shit", but i still see people shilling barely-working apps as some grand solution to systemic capitalism on the daily

don't get me wrong; i'm a tinkerer at heart and will happily spend hours engineering a solution to solve a 2-minute problem, but the thing has to actually be
viable

tragic as it is, sometimes handing over the 10-something per month is actually the most viable option. if you want that to change, put your money where your mouth is, and engineer a solution that
works.

@ari yeah i think the way i've got things running now has been pretty good for me, im using ublock and libretube on android but there are times when ublock stops blocking ads, there are times when newpipe or libretube will also stop working, i just deal with it tbh because ultimately these apps are here to take up my time and them being offline lets me do something more "productive" but people just want shit that works and you shouldn't be shamed for using the money you have on something you want lmao
