@autumn i suspect that chromium is a separate process . ill have to check for myself , because i cant believe it uses the same amount as xfce term

@fiore its gpu accelerated so it uses VRAM instead of system Memory yep .

ghostty does use opengl , idk if that matters

@fiore @max im not familiar with the internals at all but VRAM is only used for tasks that a graphic card does, and so it'd be used for stuff like accelerating and rendering it but actually having that terminal session running.

@fiore @max you've got a GPU it's just integrated into your CPU, if you didn't have a GPU then your desktop wouldn't run.

@autumn @max yea what i mean is that im using integrated graphics so i probably have very little vram and most of the memory footprint goes to ram

@fiore @max if that's a worry then there should be a bios option for it, but also my understanding is that you don't need a good GPU or anything like that for GPU acceleration or even a lot of VRAM, you just offloading small tasks that a GPU does better to the CPU.
