@autumn no you see i set the primary display to IGFX but because i don't have any monitor plugged it it resets itself back to Auto which hides the igpu from the OS. it used to not do that before i switched that back off.
how the hell did i get into a state where it kept that on without anything plugged and how can i replicate that is my question
@autumn i dont want to run a monitor off my igpu because it used to cause unexplainable hard freezes but idk if that's a Linux™ thing or a hardware thing so now that im on windows that could be Just Fine
@kopper ive just got my monitors plugged into my iGPU and windows 11 + linux just know which GPU to use in which scenario, sometimes it doesn't and i have to manually set it but like its usually fine.
try that since you're on windows, i always had some trouble with Linux and Intel iGPUs freezing but i thought that was a 12th gen thing only so I'm not exactly sure how to resolve that
(edit: also ive only had that freeze issue on 12th gen Mobile and not on my desktop which is weird but i know they're both a bit different)
@kopper i think if worst comes to worst you can also buy dummy HDMI plugs that you just plug into your mobo to make it think there's a monitor and keep it on lmao
