Had a meeting at work over MS Teams. What is about, does not matter. What does matter is I asked if they could tell the difference between the laptop mic and my studio mic.

I switched between the two and nobody could tell a difference. Even though in literally every other calling/audio app there is a clear difference.

Teams’s compression is so bad that it makes a studio mic sound just as bad as a laptop mic. Microsoft makes impressive software.

@yassie_j it could also be their insane noise suppression that they add to it. my dad does things regularly over teams and i would check in with him before drying my hair to see if im not disturbing him and he said it was fine. i didn't believe him so we tested it out and it completely cut out the hairdryer AND vacuum cleaner ~2m away from the computer.

@yassie_j i think also macOS does some mic suppression so it could be that too but teams goes so hard with the suppression

@autumn oh my god. No way. That must be it. Microsoft noise suppression! Makes sense.
