as much as i wish this was a part i could skip, nobody uses anything older than Java 8 (and probably nobody uses Java 8 still too 😭) so i have to watch it :(
@ari from what i know, you can use it with fprintd to unlock your PC (but still need password for the keychain implementation on KDE or GNOME), you can use it for sudo, and on GNOME at least you're able to use it to just authenticate any admin stuff that the desktop will ask you about. I don't think you can actually do anything within other apps though, not sure about portals though. It allows for you to pass through every USB device, but not fingerprint sensors specifically.
because even if its phishing resistant, it's still only 1 factor of authentication. someone who has my key (and i guess knows which accounts im using) can just have access. unlikely scenario but i'd like 2 factors everywhere
@coolbean you can get usb fingerprint sensors too, i actually saw one that supported FIDO as well and probably only unlocks on a successful fingerprint login, which is kinda cool
