@halva i dont know i kinda just thought "shakey front end hard to run, you need bourgeois hardware" and i needed more than that to make the post funnier so i assigned random things to random software.
@detondev the british had some crazy ideas to do with infrastructure and architecture in the 50-60s. there were a few proposals for some real stupid shit like a grid like building that would have a road atop it, and encasing all of tower bridge (the famous one) in steel and glass. and all we got out of those ideas are entirely concrete buildings (the rebuilt london bridge, the barbican, the national theatre)
@detondev funny enough the depiction of this that made me think of it was from 2010, in Doctor Who S5E2. the tank thing is from Mortal Engines. i have to wonder whether it's like parallel thinking, inspiration, or if this "The United Kingdom Civilisation as a Vehicle" idea is based on a real idea some crank had in the 40s.
@detondev i think over the last 10 years since brexit ive seen many versions of hooking up rocket thrusters to great britain and moving either up out of europe or Above out of the world
im also counting wheatley from portal 2 because he's in space and british.
